Why put Althaïr on a shortlist?

The current official Althaïr page names citrus and elemi, orange blossom with cinnamon and cardamom, then Bourbon vanilla, guaiacwood and praline. That makes it a specific vanilla-and-spice proposition. It is not the obvious starting point for someone who wants a dry citrus cologne with little sweetness.

The reason to sample is the combination, not the presence of a fashionable note. If vanilla appeals but praline-style sweetness does not, make that tension the deciding question. If you already use several vanilla fragrances for evenings, compare Althaïr with the one you actually wear most often.
