Short answer: Dossier Aromatic Pineapple is the one alternative here that names Y as its inspiration and publishes a note list, and it shares bergamot, ginger, a sage note and cedarwood with Y on paper. A published roundup puts Lattafa Fakhar Black first, and compares Maison Alhambra Yeah! and Armaf Ventana with Y too. None is the original, and none can be called identical.
This page is desk research. It draws on Amazon listings checked on October 20, 2026, a maker product page and a published roundup. We have not smelled, worn or blind-compared any of these. The roundup comes from Scento, which sells Y decants, so its ranking is opinion with a commercial interest. It gives no note lists for its alternatives, its Y notes differ between sections, and its similarity percentages have no stated basis, so we repeat only the descriptive claims.
Quick comparison
Scento lists Y with apple, bergamot and ginger on top, sage and lavender in the heart, and a woody-amber base with cedarwood.
| Alternative | What the source says | Notes shared with Y on paper | Check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dossier Aromatic Pineapple, 50 ml | Dossier says it is inspired by YSL’s Y; bergamot, ginger, pineapple / clary sage, geranium, juniper berry / amberwood, cedarwood, olibanum | Bergamot, ginger, a sage note, cedarwood | Dossier lists clary sage; Scento lists sage for Y; Scento does not cover this one |
| Lattafa Fakhar Black gift set | Less fizzy and less sharp opening than Y; heart and dry-down called very close; ambroxan-driven aromatic | None published | The Amazon link is a set with a travel spray and shower gel |
| Maison Alhambra Yeah! EDP, 3.4 oz | Flatter for the first 15 to 30 minutes than Y | None published | The roundup separately lists a Yeah! Parfum; this link is the Eau de Parfum |
| Armaf Ventana, 3.4 oz | Softer and cleaner, with a less zesty top; heart and dry-down fairly close | None published | Listed by the roundup as Ventana Pour Homme |
The alternatives
Dossier Aromatic Pineapple: the one with a note list
Dossier’s Aromatic Pineapple page says it is inspired by YSL’s Y and lists bergamot, ginger and pineapple on top, clary sage, geranium and juniper berry in the heart, and amberwood, cedarwood and olibanum at the base. It says Dossier is not associated or affiliated with the brands it names. Compared with Scento’s list for Y, the shared notes are bergamot, ginger, a sage note and cedarwood. Dossier adds pineapple and juniper berry, and Scento’s list for Y has apple and lavender that Dossier’s does not. Scento’s roundup does not cover this perfume, so no outside reviewer is cited here. The Amazon listing is the 50 ml Eau de Parfum sold by Dossier.
- Choose it if you want the alternative whose notes you can read and compare before buying.
- Skip it if you want the roundup’s top pick or an outside reviewer’s opinion; there is none here.
Lattafa Fakhar Black: the roundup’s top pick
Scento calls Fakhar Black its best overall pick and describes a fresh, spicy, ambroxan-driven aromatic style with a less fizzy, less sharp opening than Y, and a heart and dry-down it calls very close. It claims 8 to 12 hours of wear and says it beats the original Eau de Parfum for longevity, without citing a test. Amazon lists it as a gift set with a 100 ml Eau de Parfum, a 12 ml travel spray and a 100 ml shower gel from a third-party seller; we did not find a Lattafa-branded standalone bottle listing we could verify. Our Sauvage Elixir dupes page covers the same set against a different original.
- Choose it if you want the roundup’s top pick and like a fresh, spicy, ambroxan style.
- Skip it if you want a standalone bottle without the extras.
Maison Alhambra Yeah!: slower start
Scento says Yeah! feels flatter for the first 15 to 30 minutes, then reaches a heart and dry-down it puts at about 80 to 85 percent similarity, a figure with no stated basis. The 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum is sold by a third party. The roundup also lists a Yeah! Parfum, which it calls richer and closer to Y Le Parfum; that is a different listing and is not linked.
- Choose it if you accept a slower start for a Y-style heart.
- Skip it if the bright opening is the point for you.
Armaf Ventana: softer and cleaner
Scento calls Ventana softer and cleaner than Y, with a less zesty top and a heart and dry-down that are fairly close. The 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum is sold by a third party. The roundup gives no note list, and Armaf does not describe it as a Y alternative.
- Choose it if you want a gentler, less zesty fresh-woody scent.
- Skip it if you want the citrus sparkle at the start.
Names you may see but did not link
Scento also lists Armaf Odyssey Mega Man, Lattafa Sheikh Al Shuyukh Final Edition, Zara Y Collection and Zara For Him Red Edition, and describes the last two as fading sooner or giving less projection than the original. We did not tie new, in-stock Amazon listings to those names with confidence, so none is linked. The roundup is also inconsistent about how it describes Sheikh Al Shuyukh (fresh and spicy in one place, a darker daily-wear scent in another).
The original, if you would rather start there
Amazon lists Yves Saint Laurent Y Eau de Parfum in 3.3 oz (100 ml) from Woot, new when we checked. Y is also sold as an Eau de Toilette, an Intense and a Le Parfum, which are different perfumes, so match the Eau de Parfum. If you are weighing it against another YSL bottle, our MYSLF review covers the bottle versus refill question for that line.
Before you buy any of them
- Sample the original first. If you do not enjoy Y itself, a cheaper interpretation will not fix that.
- Name what you like. If it is the bergamot and ginger opening, compare the top notes above; if it is the woody-amber finish, the base notes are what to check.
- Judge each alternative on its own. Buy it because you like wearing it, not because a roundup used the word “dupe.”
- Compare the seller and the return terms. Opened fragrance is often final sale.
Our woody cologne guide and note meanings guide explain the families these scents sit in.

FAQ
Is any of these the same as YSL Y?
No. Each is a separate formula from a different maker, and only Dossier says its perfume was inspired by Y. The roundup comparisons are opinion from a retailer, so treat them as a starting point, not a test.
Which alternative shares the most notes with Y?
On paper, Dossier Aromatic Pineapple. Dossier lists bergamot, ginger and pineapple on top, clary sage, geranium and juniper berry in the heart, and amberwood, cedarwood and olibanum at the base. Scento lists Y with apple, bergamot and ginger, sage and lavender, and a woody-amber base with cedarwood, so the lists share bergamot, ginger, a sage note and cedarwood. Overlap on paper does not mean the two smell alike.
Which YSL Y concentration is the roundup comparing with?
Mostly the Eau de Parfum, though it matches a few picks to the Eau de Toilette or Le Parfum. Its own notes for Y are not consistent either: sage and lavender in the body, sage and geranium in the FAQ.
What does the roundup say about Lattafa Fakhar Black?
That its opening is less fizzy and less sharp than Y, and its heart and dry-down are very close. The roundup also claims it lasts longer than the original without citing a test, so treat that as unverified.
